Are Smoothies Healthy - Too Much Sugar - Weight Loss Tips - How to Make a Smoothie
Hey it's karena your virtual health coach and I'm here today
to talk to you about smoothies and I have five reasons why you should be drinking
more smoothies.
I'm also going to
talk about the element of sugar in smoothies and whether or not smoothies are
still healthy because of the sugar that they contain.
So before we dive in

I absolutely love to
hear from you and let's go ahead and talk about why you should drink more
smoothies so first and foremost smoothies are a delicious and easy way to take
in a lot of nutrients.
So this is my apple
pie smoothie that I just made in the previous video and it's just a great
example of how you can add in a lot of great nutrient-dense things to make
something that's not only guilt-free but it's actually healthy for you.
Smoothies are also a
great way to satisfy your hunger and if they are replacing meals they can even
be a good way to lose weight and if we follow a couple of simple guidelines
like the ones.
There's lots of easy ways
to even improve that smoothies ability to satisfy your hunger to keep your
hunger satisfied for longer periods of time and again be very courteous to your
blood sugar metabolism and your waistline.
So I like to call it the slow sugar trifecta and basically
this is our fiber our fats and our protein and what they aim to do or help to
do is slow down the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream.
So whether we're talking about just general health or a
concern about blood sugar issues or diabetes or if we are talking about weight
loss slowing down the spike that you're gonna get in your blood sugar is a
really important concept.
And that's where the slow sugar trifecta comes in so when we're
talking about smoothies number one you retain the fiber of the fruits vegetables
and other ingredients that you throw in that right there helps to satisfy your
hunger and helps to slowdown the blood sugar spike.
We can also think about adding in healthy sources off at and
healthy sources of protein to also continue enhancing that effect and keeping
our hunger satisfied for longer periods of time.
So some examples of additional fats fiber and protein that could
be added would be nuts seeds avocados coconut cream and I want to show you now
these super smoothie bags.
These are from a company called smoothie box and basically
they send you these lovely little pre-made pre-mixed smoothies and these bags
you can see how they look here so here's my cacao smoothie that also has kale
and zucchinito.
Really add in a lot of nutrient density we've also got some
pumpkinseeds or pepitas so another great example of a nice healthy omega-3 fat.
There in the seeds and then here this Clementine smoothie
which has carrots sweet potatoes again with the little pumpkin seeds coconut
cream and all of these lovely ingredients that once again satisfy your hunger
and help you to stay fuller longer just from drinking a smoothie.
So a second reason to drink more smoothies is because of the
different weight-loss benefits we can get when we replace a meal with a really
great nutrient-dense smoothie that also has this slow sugar trifecta
incorporated.
Now there's also an element that is very very important when we're talking about weight loss
bloating belly fat whatever it may be which is that our digestive tract just gets
super exhausted having to digest alot of processed food and most of us are eating
processed food on a regular basis.
So if you are somebody who isn't eating that well smoothies
are a wonderful way to not only add more nutrients into your diet but they also
are going to give your digestive tract a break.
Because basically the food is already digested by your
blender now when it comes to again bloating and these different issues anything
you can do to just help assist your digestive tract.
Make its life a little bit easier is really gonna help you
in that department and a lot of people just by starting to blend their foods
and maybe take something like warm soups or smoothies on a regular basis can
even see their waistline start to diminish just from that one simple element of
giving the digestive tract a break reason.
Number three is that we are supposed to be eating five to
nine servings a day of fruits and vegetable sand while that can maybe seem a
little bit daunting it's actually a really easy goal to reach.
Especially if you're consuming lots of blend ease so for
instance a smoothie in the morning and a soup for lunch and right there you're
probably gonna be able to hit six or seven servings of fruits.
And vegetables and that's just two of the things that you're
eating that day so the more that you are adding more vegetables to your
smoothies.
But definitely helps to increase the health benefits and I
just want to encourage you to kind of get creative with where you add
vegetables and fruits into the things you're already making so that you can
hopefully reach that five to nine minimum servings a day reason.
Number four is that smoothies or blender's maybe the easiest
thing for somebody to start integrating into their life style and even if you
don't cook or have never cooked making smoothies is really easy.
I personally hate following recipes but throw all
ingredients into a blender and turn it on is a recipe I can actually follow and
if even math feels like too much trouble then you've always got you're already
ready to go smoothie ingredients sent right to your door.
And what could possibly be easier than that the last and
final reason I want to talk about is that smoothies are so convenient not only
are they easy to make but they're also really convenient to take with you while
you're on the go.
To even be eating something while you'rein a meeting or
while you're sitting at work and if you don't like the idea of drinking your
smoothie.
You can throw it in a bowl with a couple of fun topping sand
make a really delightful smoothie bowl or a little bit less liquid and make it
into an ice cream or nice cream type of recipe.
It's also super easy to keep leveling up your smoothie game
so even if you start with something simple like a three ingredient smoothie.
Find yourself adding more nutrient-dense things to your
smoothie and actually have an entire video dedicated to that topic called level
up your smoothie game.
So I just think it's such a wonderful thing to add in a great
healthy habit to start incorporating into your lifestyle and then you will
slowly find that you are making healthier and healthier smoothies using your
blender more often to make even more amazing things.
And watching your health just improve this is goanna be

benefits that we get when we just start increasing our nutrient intake I want
